Affordable Housing
Front Steps provides support services to residents of St. Joseph’s Commons, a new construction composed of 68 one-bedroom Permanent Supportive Housing units in the Ohio City neighborhood of Cleveland.
Front Steps follows a Housing First approach that quickly and successfully connects individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Cuyahoga County to stable, permanent housing. Housing First is a long-term, community-based housing model that is designed to enable individuals to live as independently as possible in a permanent setting.
Front Steps is aligned with the Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) model. Assisting persons experiencing chronic homelessness who also have an accompanying disability or a behavioral health diagnosis to achieve a permanent housing solution is our primary goal. One of the ways we accomplish this is to eliminate preconditions and barriers to entry such as sobriety, treatment, or service participation requirements.
On-site supportive services that maximize housing stability and prevent returns to homelessness are offered to residents. Participation is encouraged but is never required.
